where to start

Hey!

we're katzie and ben

get to know us

When you’re planning a wedding, every decision carries weight and your photography choice is one of the most important!

Why? Because in reality…many of the other details of the day get thrown away or returned, but your photos are what remains for decades after your wedding day and shared for generations!

Couples don’t want just anyone with a camera to take their wedding pictures. Deep in their hearts, couples desire someone who is experienced, who they connect with, someone they like, someone they can truly trust to anticipate each meaningful moment unfolding and capture it all beautifully.

So it really does matter who you choose to photograph the wedding day.

Seek someone whose presence complements the experience that you want as a bride and groom on the wedding day.

In our opinion, a true wedding photographer doesn’t just have the technical skills for how to photograph a wedding day, they also have the ability to calm you when the nerves hit, keep a positive environment around you, adapt quickly and comfortably if the timeline goes awry, support your decisions, and pray with you through it all. The photographer is invited into some of the most intimate moments behind the scenes, so you need to be comfortable enough to allow them into that space and still be authentically yourself.

That’s what we seek to offer every couple that we work with!

Together, Ben and I have photographed more than 175 weddings over the past 12 years, with a deep focus on the beauty and sacredness of Catholic weddings. From intimate chapels to grand cathedrals all across the country, we know the nuances of church weddings. We understand the rhythm of the Mass in its many forms (Novus Ordo, TLM, Crowning Liturgy) so we know exactly where to stand without disrupting the liturgy or distracting guests, how to anticipate meaningful moments during consecration and communion, and how to respectfully capture every part of the day without missing the spiritual heart of it all.

And here’s where we do things differently than some other photographers in the industry.

When you hire us,
you get us.
Katzie and Ben.

We don’t subcontract our weddings to “associate” photographers. We don’t pass you off to someone else once you’ve signed the contract. We’re the ones you meet with, plan with, pray with, laugh with. We’re the ones showing up on your wedding day, cameras in hand.

There are some photography businesses that do associates really well and can be a good fit when when it’s done with integrity and clarity. The key is that the ones who do it well this way have dedicated teams that are listed transparently on the photographer’s website and who are deeply trained, experienced, and work for this photographer consistently.

But we felt this topic was worth bringing up because we’ve seen a growing trend that concerns us (even in the Catholic wedding niche) where a photographer books weddings under their company name and then hands them off to a different photographer, sometimes even to a new photographer with little to no experience who may be shooting their first wedding ever alone on your wedding day. Yet the couple still pays top dollar, expecting that they’re getting a seasoned professional. And to us, that’s not only misleading… it’s truly a disservice to couples.

That practice treats weddings like transactions instead of relationships.

We believe your wedding day deserves our full attention.

Which is why if we are already booked for your wedding date, we believe it’s better to lovingly refer you to a trusted colleague and have you book directly with them. We have a whole network of other Catholic wedding photographers that we can send you to who will serve you with the same skill, love, and attention that has attracted you to us.

Because we value community over competition.

We’d rather a different photographer get the opportunity to have work with you and form that meaningful relationship with you.

And if an unexpected emergency happens we call on the trusted professionals from our network to shoot on one (or both) of our behalfs, depending on the situation. But that is never our default and only happens in rare occassions. Sometimes our network calls on us in their emergencies and we step in for them too!

When you do hire Katzie and Ben,
you’re not just hiring a service.
You’re welcoming us into your story.

We don’t take that lightly.

We’re committed to always showing up for you. In the months of preparing, on the wedding day, and we will be praying for your marriage through the years afterwards.

We’re so honored to photograph couples stepping into the sacrament of marriage, and we hope you get to experience the ways that we show up with hearts wide open to serve, support, and celebrate every beautiful, sacred moment.
