There was a church father named St. Ireneus who said, “the glory of God is man fully alive.” This is what comes to mind whenever I try to describe Melina and Nestor. They light up any room they are in, yet have profound humility.
How He Asked
We still remember the moment when Nestor told us he was going to propose to Melina. We felt so honored to be let in on the secret and remember how he was spoke with such conviction that she was the one. You could hear clearly in his voice how passionately in love he is with her.
It was only a matter of a few short weeks later that he popped the question. decorated the Marian chapel at the Cathedral of St. Paul with candles and red rose pedals as he got down on one knee to ask Melina to be his wife. She said yes!
The Engagement Session
When we started planning out their engagement session, two big themes came up in the discussion: an Italian aesthetic and ice cream! Sonny’s ice cream in South Minneapolis immediately came to mind for its European-style charm and Italian roots. Even though Nestor is lactose intolerant, he was more than happy to add in this stop for his future wife, but we made a quick stop first in downtown Minneapolis for him.
Nestor bears the small cross of being in love with a woman who not only “likes” ice cream, but has a whole ice cream journal! If he wasn’t lactose intolerant, doesn’t that sound like the DREAM?! Hah! Inside her journal she details the places she visits and flavors she tries. So, it made sense that we make a stop at a gelateria during our engagement session. Without fail, she brought her journal with to Sonny’s to give it an honorable mention.
We had so much fun with these two who were playful the whole time. Nestor loved every excuse to kiss Melina so we made sure to give him LOTS of excuses 😉 We can’t wait to capture their wedding next year and for more adventures ahead!
