Tony and Sammy are high school sweethearts who survived long distance and planning a wedding during a pandemic. To say their relationship is a strong one would be an understatement. We are suckers for romantic relationships that stand the test of time and know that their experience across state lines helped them be intentional about growing in communication, trust, and faith together that is helping them through the new challenges of this season.
Last fall, Tony took Sammy on a pilgrimage visit to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, WI and popped the question. If you’ve never been, it is a place full of beauty and peace. It is no wonder that Tony thought to ask the love of his life to marry him in that spot. Mary gave the ultimate yes in her fiat. Sammy gets to follow in her shoes by saying yes to God through the vocation of marriage that He has called her to with Tony.
When we got together for their winter engagement session at Minnehaha Falls, they asked us to capture some images of them praying together. As they unfolded their rosaries from their pocket, Sammy shared that hers was a gift from Tony when she converted to Catholicism a few years ago. We loved this way of showcasing an important part of their relationship together.
As we moved throughout the park, they wanted to finish the session full circle to the start of their relationship by wearing their letterman jackets. Such a fun nod to their past while focusing so much on the future. We’re excited to capture their wedding later this fall and see the ways the Lord works in their marriage.
