Three years. It doesn’t feel like time has passed since this day and yet watching our baby boy become a toddler proves to us that time is in fact moving along. We are by all means still excited, still laughing, and still surprising one another. We’re also still learning, still failing, and still forgiving. But we never were looking for perfection to begin with.
We both were very honest about the wounds we each brought into our relationship and chose to get married on the Feast of the Sacred Heart because we knew from the beginning that we wanted to love one another with the heart of Christ – a heart that was wounded but never ceases to love and pour itself out for others.
We can’t do that on our own. So we constantly pray that Christ transform our hearts to be more like His. Pope Francis even encourages couples to ask specifically for their daily bread to be the daily love for one another. This has become a concrete part of our prayer together since engagement.
Looking back on it all, these last three years have proved true that marriage is a journey worthwhile. Full of growth, healing, and sanctification. All by the grace of God. 10/10 recommend.
I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together and continue encouraging one another on to holiness.
*Now, brb while we go listen to our fave song that centers our hearts on God: O God Beyond All Praising*
