When we heard the news that Vanessa and Matt became engaged, our hearts skipped a beat! We’ve been lucky to know the sweet bride-to-be for several years now and that made us all the more excited to share in the joy of their news. When we finally met Matt, we instantly saw their chemistry. They are smitten! He never misses an opportunity to rave about his beautiful bride and her generous heart. She never stops smiling in his presence.

Not to mention, Katzie teared up BIG TIME as they told the story of how he proposed. We watched their eyes lit up reliving the moment all over again. You could feel the way her heart danced in the surprise of coming home to the romantic scene Matt prepared for her. Tea lights lined up in the shape of a heart took center stage on the dining table surrounded by rose pedals. A chilled bottle of champagne and chocolate cake awaited the response to the important question Matt would ask.

Spoiler alert: SHE SAID YES! We are so glad that she did.

Vanessa is one lucky woman to not only find an expert at romantic gestures, she also found a man of faith. There is an old saying that “a woman’s heart must be so hidden in God that a man must seek Him to find her.” This was certainly true of Vanessa and Matt!

Years of patiently waiting and trusting in God’s providence paid off. Just hearing how Matt describes the instant spark he felt on their first date gives me the chills. He said, “when I looked into her beautiful blue eyes I saw Christ’s love when she smiled; I saw a soul in love with God, which was the most incredible experience, and most attractive thing I had ever seen.” Not only did Matt’s faithfulness to God lead him to his bride, but she is also leading him back to God.

Seeing how they keep Christ at the center of their relationship gives us confidence that their marriage will be even more beautiful than their wedding day. We are so honored that we will be there to capture their wedding day and see these two become one in the sacrament of marriage!
