Hey!

It takes two truly adventurous souls to brave getting married during the frigid Minnesota winter, yet Meg and Zac were more than up for the task. In fact they gladly welcomed it. Meg and Zac intentionally chose to have their wedding on the Feast of the Epiphany.

One of the things we admire most about Meg and Zac is the way that Christ is truly at the center of their relationship just as it was the center of their wedding day. Their choosing to get married on a Catholic feast day was just the beginning of the signs that point towards this truth.

Before the nuptial mass began, the bride and groom arranged an intimate moment at the edge of the church doors to exchange letters and pray together meanwhile still keeping the tradition of the bride out of sight from her groom. Meg held tightly with one hand to her bouquet as her fingers interlaced through the rosary she wrapped around it all the while her other hand held firmly to Zac’s hand as he led them in prayer through the intercession of St. Gianna Molla.

By having the wedding at the hometown church where Meg grew up, her local parish priest, Fr. Hipwell was able to celebrate the mass and to share his own testimony to their faith. Father expressed in his homily how overjoyed he (and their parish community) were to see this young couple get married. It is a powerful witness to have a young couple who regularly attend mass and who actively contribute to the life of the Church come to the altar to celebrate their marriage through the sacrament.

As they said their vows and then brought a bouquet of roses to Mary and St. Joseph’s altars, it became all the more visible how their relationship truly models the Holy Family. In each of these moments we saw the even more beautiful connection to their choice in this particular feast day as they welcomed Christ into their lives and into their home this day just as the Holy Family did at the Nativity.
